Standard Black Oxide Over Nitride coating helps toughen the hard nitride case. Black oxide also resists chip welding, increases lubricity and helps to retain cutting fluid.

TiN Coating results in an extremely hard surface with high lubricity for increased tool life, improved thread quality, reduced torque and increased tapping speeds for greater productivity.

Primarily designed for tapping through holes. The spiral point forces the chips ahead of the tap.
