Recommended for tapping free machine steels, stainless
steels, aluminum, zinc, magnesium and ductile materials.
Taper (8-10 Thread Chamfer) distributes the cutting
load over a greater number of threads for easier starting,
especially when tapping difficult to machine materials.
Plug (3-5 Thread Chamfer) is used for most general
purpose tapping applications in through holes and blind
holes with sufficient bottom clearance.
Bottom (1-2 Thread Chamfer) is used in blind holes
to finish the thread to the required depth - often after
starting the thread with a taper or plug tap.
